I went offline for a couple of weeks for a few reasons. Most notably, my laptop is having some issues and will be out of commission for a few more weeks – damn you HP! But I did use that time to see how much more productive I could be if I restricted my access to the web. That meant limited time in social networks, twitter, and writing blog posts.
I was shocked at the results:
Over the past two weeks, I’ve been able to:
• Take a course in copywriting
• Take a course in adwords
• Got three new customers based on those skills
• In the process of writing a free report/white paper/ebook
• Created an auto-responder series to keep my marketing on “auto-pilot”
The biggest drawback from my strategy is that while I was able to accomplish a lot, there are going to be very few people who actually read this post. If I had to do it again, I would write a few blog posts at the beginning of the week and have them posted automatically.
You live and you learn.

I have been offline for most of the summer – posting here and there but concentrating more on my family than my blog/site. My site is still growing probably because of the content sitting in reserve. The downtime has been fabulous for re-energizing my ideas and commitment.
I remember reading a post by problogger (http://www.problogger.net/archives/2009/06/13/how-to-improve-your-blog-when-you-have-no-internet-access/) where he talked about limiting your time online and how productive you could be – thanks so much for another great reminder of how sometimes our best work is done offline rather than online. I need to work a lot more on pre-writing posts and planning more stretches of downtime!
Also wanted to let you know I am still reading your great blog – that is what I love about a reader – I get posts when they are written and don’t have to check the site!
